"Mommy's tool"

Who knew that making this...

Could lead to this...

Dad swooped in by the time they were cleaning the wound and wrapping it...I might add that he missed out on carrying Corban in screaming while I blood dripped on my jeans and foot. Corban refused to let the Man-Nurse take his pulse on his hand so we had to take off his sock and use his grossly nasty toe. Then, once we got in the room we had to hold him down to take the paper towel off the wound. They did a few tests to see if his tendon was cut. I was doing fine until "If the tendon is cut then you have 10 days to get him to a hand surgeon." Freaked me out! So I called Joshua and he called our neighbors...

The Man-Nurse and Doctor kept asking Corban how he hurt his hand and his reply was always "Mommy's Tool," which of course THEY had no idea what it was. The "tool" in reference is in fact me, because I let Corban use one of my Cricut Scrapbooking tools to help make a friend's birthday card. Just as I was saying "Please be careful" was when he decided to place a diagonal cut through his left thumb knuckle. After having to be wrapped with two sheets, having Mommy lay on him to hold him down, a "thumb block" and 7 stitches later, I took him to get this...

While Joshua picked up these...

What a day!

Just FYI. I got there while they were cleaning it and got to watch the doc open the wound up nice and wide to make sure it looked good and clean. Then I watched him put all 7 stitches in while I told Corban about all the stitches that his daddy and uncles got as kids and that everything would turn out just fine. And somehow hearing his dad tell the stories about getting his head cut open 3 different times and about his uncle taking a shovel right between the eyes seemed to calm him down. Go figure.

Goodness...what a day! Bless that sweet boy! So, I'm guessing the tendon was NOT cut, right? Or are you looking for a hand surgeon?

I'm glad that it is not too bad and that Corban can now start telling his own stories. I'm just waiting for Daniel to start injuring himself so that he can have stories just like his Daddy as well.
